Introduction

Welcome to Source Finder. Source Finder is operated by Nolan Enterprises LLC DBA Sparky's Metal Supply ("us," "we," or "our"). Our Privacy Policy governs your use of the Source Finder application (the "Service") and explains how we collect, safeguard, and disclose information that results from your use of the Service.

We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, the terms used here have the same meanings as in our Terms of Service. Our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy together constitute your agreement with us.

Definitions

  • Service— the Source Finder application and all related features operated by Nolan Enterprises LLC DBA Sparky's Metal Supply.
  • Personal Data — data about a living individual who can be identified from those data (or from those and other information either in our possession or likely to come into our possession).
  • Usage Data — data collected automatically either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).
  • Cookies — small files stored on your device (computer or mobile device).
  • Data Controller — a natural or legal person who determines the purposes for which and the manner in which any personal data are, or are to be, processed. For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, we are the Data Controller of your data.
  • Data Processors (or Service Providers) — any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Data Controller. We may use the services of various Service Providers in order to process your data more effectively.
  • Data Subject — any living individual who is the subject of Personal Data.
  • The User — the individual using the Service. The User corresponds to the Data Subject, who is the subject of Personal Data.

Information we collect

Personal information you provide directly

  • Contact and profile information — name, business email address, company name, US state of business operation. Collected at signup; used to provision your account and personalize the Service.
  • Authentication credentials — your password is hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase) and is never stored in plaintext. We have no access to your plaintext password.
  • Billing and payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor (Stripe). We never see or store your card details. We retain only your Stripe customer ID and subscription metadata for billing reconciliation.
  • Support communications — emails you send us and our replies, retained for service quality.

Source Finder usage data

When you use the Service, we collect:

  • Search queries and search history (materials, shapes, grades you search for; whether you used Database or SCOUT)
  • RFQ outreach activity — which suppliers you emailed, composed via the in-app BCC workflow
  • Usage statistics including searches performed, SCOUT discoveries consumed, and features accessed
  • Subscription and billing history
  • For Team-plan accounts: team member roster and access logs

Automatically collected information

  • Usage logs — IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, timestamps. Used for security monitoring and debugging.
  • Email engagement — whether you opened or clicked through links in our transactional or trial-cadence emails, tracked via our email-delivery provider (Resend) to measure deliverability and improve content.
  • Application performance data — timing and error reports used to diagnose issues and improve reliability.

How we use your information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • To authenticate you and authorize access to features
  • To process subscriptions and manage billing
  • To monitor usage limits and enforce subscription terms
  • To send transactional communications (receipts, plan changes, account-state notifications)
  • To send onboarding and trial-cadence emails during your 30-day free trial (opt out via the unsubscribe link in any such email)
  • To respond to support requests
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the Service
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or abuse of the Service
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

Information sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With service providers who assist us in operating the Service (see the list below)
  • When required by law or to protect our rights and safety
  • In connection with a business transfer or acquisition
  • With your explicit consent

Service Providers

We share the minimum necessary information with the following third-party Service Providers to operate Source Finder. Each has its own privacy practices governing the information it receives:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and row-level security
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management. Stripe adheres to PCI-DSS standards managed by the PCI Security Standards Council. We do not store or collect your payment-card details; that information is provided directly to Stripe.
  • Vercel — application hosting and edge delivery
  • Resend — transactional and trial-cadence email delivery

These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform the tasks described above on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Supplier information

Source Finder's database contains business contact information for metals and materials suppliers. This data is sourced from publicly available business listings and directly-provided information; it is not personal data about you. When you email a supplier via Source Finder, the email is composed in your own email client and sent under your own outgoing email address — we don't intermediate or store the message content beyond the fact that you initiated an outreach.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use only essential cookies needed for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser, but the authenticated portions of the Service will not function without them.

Do Not Track signals

We honor Do Not Track signals and do not track, plant cookies, or use advertising when a Do Not Track browser mechanism is in place. Do Not Track is a preference you can set in your web browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked. You can enable or disable Do Not Track by visiting the Preferences or Settings page of your web browser.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we retain a minimal record of the deletion event for fraud-prevention purposes, and we retain billing records as required by applicable tax and accounting laws. Search and RFQ history is deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

Security of data

The security of your data is important to us. We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for credentials and payment information via our infrastructure providers, and access controls limiting which team members can see your data. Remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We will notify you of any breach affecting your data as required by applicable law.

Transfer of data

Source Finder is operated from the United States. Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located within the United States. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to the United States and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

Nolan Enterprises LLC DBA Sparky's Metal Supply will take all the steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and no transfer of your Personal Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information.

Your data protection rights under CalOPPA

CalOPPA (the California Online Privacy Protection Act) was the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law's reach stretches well beyond California to require any person or company in the United States operating websites collecting personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared, and to comply with this policy.

According to CalOPPA we agree to the following:

  • Users can visit our site anonymously
  • Our Privacy Policy link includes the word "Privacy" and can easily be found on the page specified above on the home page of our website
  • Users will be notified of any privacy policy changes on our Privacy Policy page
  • Users are able to change their personal information by emailing us at support@sourcefinder.us or through their Account page

Your data protection rights under CCPA

If you are a California resident, you are entitled to learn what data we collect about you, ask to delete your data, and not to sell (share) it. To exercise your data-protection rights, you can make certain requests and ask us:

  • What personal information we have about you. If you make this request, we will return to you: the categories of personal information we have collected about you; the categories of sources from which we collect your personal information; the business or commercial purpose for collecting your personal information; the categories of third parties with whom we share personal information; the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you; a list of categories of personal information that we have sold, along with the category of any other company we sold it to (if we have not sold your personal information, we will inform you of that fact); and a list of categories of personal information that we have disclosed for a business purpose, along with the category of any other company we shared it with. You are entitled to ask us to provide you with this information up to two times in a rolling twelve-month period.
  • To delete your personal information. If you make this request, we will delete the personal information we hold about you as of the date of your request from our records and direct any service providers to do the same. If you choose to delete your personal information, you may not be able to use certain functions that require your personal information to operate.
  • To stop selling your personal information. We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. However, under some circumstances, a transfer of personal information to a third party, or within our family of companies, without monetary consideration may be considered a "sale" under California law. If you submit a request to stop selling your personal information, we will stop making such transfers.

Please note, if you ask us to delete or stop selling your data, it may impact your experience with us, and you may not be able to participate in certain programs or membership services which require the usage of your personal information to function. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To exercise your California data-protection rights described above, please send your request(s) to support@sourcefinder.us.

Children's privacy

Source Finder is a B2B product intended only for use by individuals at least eighteen (18) years old. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 13. If you become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
